not sure if this is the right forum for this post but i will go on anyway...
hello there, i have a dell xps m1530 with vista and a haupauge hd pvr capture card, i like to record some gameplay from xbox360 and record tv occaisonally but the problem is everytime i connect my capture card to the laptop it freezes apart from the mouse which i can still move but when i click the mouse it will come up with a loud beep, which will restart to repeat, the only way i get around this is to take battery pack out and in and restart the laptop but it has about a 75% chance it will happen straight away, if i am lucky it might not crash even at first it might not crash but then during recording it could randomly crash without warning and randomly, not always but most probably this will happen, it is very frustrating and i have lost my patince with with problem, i record HD footage and use the capture module which came with capture card, i have looked around and cant seem to get an answer, please help. many thanks lee |

Re: M1530 crashes when connecting capture card
Do you get a BSOD? If yes, please post the error message. Also try to simulate the crash and check Event log. Post the event log message as well.

Re: M1530 crashes when connecting capture card
im a newb :) really, so umm there is no error message it will freeze, and the only thing responding is the mouse which i can move thats it, when i click the mouse the laptop will beep (very annoying) the only way i come can overcome this is by taking out the battery pack to 'restart' the laptop, i can easyily plug my capture card in and simulate crash(easily a 80& chance the capture card will crash the laptop) so if you talk me through how to get the event log and when to check it (not during crash because i am unable to start cntrl+alt+delete thing/windows task manager), so it would have to be after system restart most probz, so if you could talk me through this i be happy to do so, to fix this..

Re: M1530 crashes when connecting capture card
There is definitely an incompatibility with your new device and the OS. I suggest you check with hauppage as to what OS versions it can support.
