dell inspiron 9300 display issue
Had a Inspiron 9300 with a cracked LCD. Replaced the LCD and it was working awesome for the first two days (except for the 1 irritating pixel that was out) and then all of a sudden during using it, bam, out it went. What happened was, I unplugged the laptop to move it and the whole computer died. (this isn't my laptop and my friend didn't tell me the battery was bad) So I just turned it back on cause it died since there was no power to it so I didn't think anything about it. When I went to turn it back on, there was no video on the lcd. nothing at all. After leaving it off for a while I tried it again, and still no display but the backlight did come on. I went ahead and opened it back up to check for loose connections or something on the inverter or lcd and everything was tight so I closed it back up and same thing. After turning it on and off a few times the backlight wouldn't even come on. That was yesterday, tried it again today to the same effect. Did I mess up the inverter some how when the power was unplugged and shut off or did I just get a bad LCD? Video on an external monitor works fine by the way incase you were wondering.
Thanks in advance. |

Re: dell inspiron 9300 display issue
If it is the inverter/backlight you should still see the Windows Desktop as screen will be too dim. You may need to view it from an angle or use a flashlight. However if it is dark/black/nothing on screen, then it could be the LCD.

No there is nothing at all, no dim image and i'm positive of that cause i've seen that too many times to know what to look for. It is absolutely black. I will file an RMA with this LCD in this case.

Re: dell inspiron 9300 display issue
Have you checked the video cables for defects or may be the seating of the video cables (I believe you already did but just in case)?

Re: dell inspiron 9300 display issue
I checked the seating on the inverter and lcd its self. I did not go as far to check the seating on the motherboard. I guess I can check that pretty easily, it should be right under the keyboard I assume. I will check that in a minute.

Yeah it should be under the keyboard. Nothing to lose just in case you have not done so yet.
