[SOLVED] Hp ZV6000 booting problems
Hi there I have a HP Pavilion zv6115EA which has a problem with booting
Sometimes it will boot and go into linux but will shut off after about a minute or if I do something intense like use the wireless or similar It has powered down whilst in the bios My immediate thought was memory so I swapped out both memory modules with working ones from another laptop but still the same Next I thought it was a heating issue so I took apart the laptop down to the motherboard and cleaned the cpu and heatsink and reapplied thermal paste and put it back together and it still has the same issue. The battery is nothing more than a paper wieght and when in linux i can do most things so dont think its a graphics thing could it be the cpu is on its way out or does it seem to be more about the motherboard any help please on this |

Re: Hp ZV6000 booting problems
How did you test the RAM? If you just swapped their places then I think, you need to test some more. Use Memtest86+ to test the sticks individually... around 2 to 5 passes each time.

Re: Hp ZV6000 booting problems
Oh ok...
You mentioned it is OK in linux? If yes, it could be an XP issue. Have you tried a reinstall or a repair of XP?

Re: [SOLVED] Hp ZV6000 booting problems
Thanks for the help and now solved turned out to be a faulty fan unit
had the new board delivered which turned out to be a dud and does not even power on it came with a new fan and heatsink though so I added them to my machine and everything is fine now and running xp media centre like a dream now just got to hook up my xbox 360 for wireless play heheheheh not payin £50 for a wireless adapter when I have a perfectly good laptop lol |
