laptop shuts down randomly - hp dv1000
Hi,
Someone just gave me a laptop, it wasn't working well so they bought a new one.. I thought, maybe i can fix it then I have a free laptop. The problem started with the blue screen from hell. I thought, I can work with that. But then it kept shutting off randomly! I can't troubleshoot anything because the computer is constantly shutting off. It stays on for less than a few minutes. Makes it kinda hard to repair! Any thoughts. I blew compressed air to clean the fan etc. I removed the battery and just worked on AC and still it shuts off. Any thoughts as to what is causing this? |

Re: laptop shuts down randomly - hp dv1000
Several things to check.. first the RAM. Use a good working RAM. Next is the motherboard. Open the laptop and visually check the motherboard. Look for burnt components. Notice that they may not have that burnt smell anymore because may have burnt long time ago.
Post back what you discover.
