Help with Acer aspire 5100 laptop

My boyfriend and I recently purchased a used acer aspire 5100 laptop. When we got it it was in pretty bad shape, the wires to the webcam have been cut, the front plate, where the power button was pulled off and it didn't come with a charger. We recently got a new charger for it and we thought everything would be okay. We plugged it in and the lights came on to let us know that it was receiving power. The moniter on it doesn't work on it so we have it plugged into a desktop moniter. It comes on and pulled up "loading windows xp" and the shut down for no reason, we have it plugged in. We tried looking at the fan to see if that was the problem, as we have read many complaints about the fan in this particular laptop, we dusted it off and put the fan back in and it still does it, although now it won't even come on. Any suggestions on how to fix this and why it's doing it?

I mean that sounds horrible!

can you hear the fans spinning up when you turn it on?

Yes we can hear the fan turning when we turn it on and we're trying to fix it because we don't have the money right now to go out and buy a new one.

Now we have it that the battery is flashing and it's not stayin a straight orange, where we know its charging, we have the power adapter in it but it won't even come on anymore. My dad thinks there's a lose wire somewhere but we're not sure where to look. The guy who had it before us thought he could fix it so he tried jaming chargers in there instead of the right charger and now it won't work right. What should we look at?

maybe you should take it apart and see if there's anything bent or something

We've taken it apart and nothing seems to be bent up.
