My Dell Inspiron 2500 wont start up

My Dell Inspiron 2500 windows 2000 labtop received a virus
so now my labtop wont start up.
It'll start starting up but before it gets to the users itll keep restarting
And it'll keep looping over and over, any help on restoring my computer back to normal, help please?

Correct me if I am wrong with my assumptions here... so what we have is a laptop running W2K. Laptop reboots as soon as you sign on. Safe Mode displays the same thing. Last Known Good Config.. does not work.

Do you still have the W2K install CD (please say you do... no excuses

)? If yes, try the steps here:

it reboots even before i sign on

and sadly no
i bought this from a friend about half a year ago
it worked fine untill this virus

but your assumptions were correct

Well you need to have a W2K installation CD first.

A virus infection could have corrupted your system files thus the reboot symptom. You can fix a corrupt system file by restoring it from a backup or from an installation CD. Another way is to fix it with a repair install... using an installation CD.

Yeah I think you can. The problem with that AFAIK is it won't do a repair but a restore of your system (all you personal files wiped out).
