Re: HP dv6000: odd color cast on external monitor

******* HP!!! What is wrong with the laptops of these days???

I also have that same problem of you guys...

I'd bought a new Samgung T260 25.5'' LCD, and after I did a while of testing with my macbook pro, I tried that with my laptop hp dv6338 (1.5 years old), and then..., I discovered that issue of not getting red color at all... :(

If someone knows of any solution, that would be great...

Moved to your own thread. We do not encourage hijacking ;) of someoneelse's thread.

So you tested the new LCD and it worked with the Mac with no problems? How about testing an external monitor with your HP? Have you tried any adjustments with the color settings?

Re: HP dv6000: odd color cast on external monitor

Yes, I have tested the output of the dv6338 with another one (a CRT of mine), and the result is same.

The problem is intermittent, and is independent of the OS (I see the odd color on the BIOS too).

Touching slightly the connector at the laptop affects the color (sometimes with distortions in the blue...) So, I think that the damage is on the motherboard or in the physical connection of the vga output.

That is also worth looking into.. may be you need to replace the video cable.
