Averatec Series1000 not charging
Averatec 1020-ED2 is about 3 years old. The original battery capacity appears to have dropped from ~3h to ~1hour. Recently I turned the normally working computer off, on battery, next day turned on - it would not start - appaered dead.
I connected the power supply. The integral battery power meter showed 0 (zero%). Never before seen this, usually get warning and auto-shutoff. Not this case. Kept charger on for many hours, % remained at 0, meter text diplays Charging. The computer now works only with 115v power connected. The power LED bottom right on the case flashes green and orange. I removed & inserted battery, makes no change. I suspect the charging circuit to be defective. I have no clue which corner of the computer holds it and never opened the unit before. Advice? Thanks! |

Re: Averatec Series1000 not charging
Replace the battery with a new or a good/working one (buy or borrow for testing only). That way you rule out if it is the battery (cheaper) or the charging circuit (may be part of motherboard thus EXPENSIVE).
