Dell Inspiro 6400 not starting up

Hi,

I own a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Windows Vista Home Basic. Yesterday, while I was using internet; suddenly my screen get stucked and I was not able to do anything. At last I power off my laptop by holding power button. After a while I tried to swith that on again but it fails to start.

Now what happening is that while I power up by pressing power button of my laptop all the three lock (i.e. NUM Lock, CAPS Lock and Upper Case Locks) and my DVD Led Lit and then after a few seconds CAPS Lock and Upper Case Lock start blinking and the other two continuously litted. Then everything off after a few more seonds. During these NO Fan sound, No Processor Sound, screen is black and blank.

My battery empty so I am not using battery at all and always using direct AC power through the Dell adapter.

Any help in this regard will a great help for me. Thanking you all in anticipation.

Regards,

Sivate Hussain

Try with a good/working RAM. Replace (temporarily) the RAM currently installed with a new or a good/working RAM. Post back what you find out.

I have not experienced a bad stick yet in one of my laptops *knocks on wood* but I have on my desktops. My question is do laptops with bad ram sticks do the "bad ram" beep code as desktops do or what signals, other than what he is experiencing does the laptop give you?

Some do.

Immediately after power ON, press and hold F8. See if you get any screen.

Also try Fn key.. same procedure as above.
