How do I get the datas from my DEAD laptop

Hello fellas,

I had a compaq c700 laptop which got screwed coz of the rain. I bought a new dell studio. Now i want to transfer some of my data files in my old laptop hard disk to my new laptop. The old laptops hard disk is in pretty neat shape. Can any one suggest me ideas to get the datas back ??

and welcome to the Forum

You can use a external enclosure like this . . pick one for PATA or SATA depending on your drive.

Or an adaptor, which will handle both

Thank you so much. But can't it be done with any cables or something ?? Am kinda broke now...

If the old notebook will boot into windows, you could transfer via network cables . . otherwise, You need some adaptor to get from the notebook drive connections to the new notebook USB ports
