My Laptop Will Not Completely Shutdown
I own a notebook called Acer Aspire 5100 and it won't shutdown. I know I can just hold the I/O button for 5 secs then it shuts down but there are times where I won't be able to do that so I can't rely on that all the time. Here's the situiation:
I pressed shutdown either by taskbar/start menu, after it reaches the logoff screen saying something like Windows Xp shutting down. Then after a few seconds later, it freezes completely, meaning it doesn't shutdown by itself. I had to do it manually. My laptop can still use Standby and Hybernation, so that's good but not being able to shutdown. Can you anyone help me out here, much appreciated. |

Re: My Laptop Will Not Completely Shutdown
I suggest you run HDD diagnostic first. Once HDD is clear of any hardware errors, run CHKDSK /R and SFC /SCANNOW.
Also run Memtest86+ to test your RAM if you notice your system seems to hang/freeze.
