HP dv6000 startup problem

Hi. Hp dv6000 has warranty expired now, so I want to repair by myself. I am not new at these things. I ask what can cause problem.

Problem description: Pressed power button, blue lights turned on, I can hear fan sound for about 1 sec, no display at all. And nothing happens more, when I press volume buttons, quiet beep heard. Cd-rom works.

I tried to play with battery, take out ram, hdd and so on... Nothing changes the laptop startup. It could be the fan problem? Or it is motherboard, if that so it's not worth repairing it anymore. Thanks for your time and answers.

Re: HP dv6000 startup problem

Remove the battery and unplug AC adapter. Press and hold power ON button for 30secs at least. Put back battery and AC then power ON as normal.

If symptoms persist, try a new/good/working RAM. If you have an extra RAM, a working spare, use it for testing purposes (replace the ones installed).

Also remove the hard drive and CD drive. Power ON and see if it improves anything.

Re: HP dv6000 startup problem

I have tested to hold 30 sec and put battery back, no result. Also the same result with no hdd and cd-rom pluged in.

About ram, i don't have a spare rams to test with it, i could be the ram's fault?

Re: HP dv6000 startup problem

When you power ON and after you hear the fan spin like it is trying to boot, does laptop shut off (like power is cut)?

Was this laptop opened? Any attempts to remove/replace the CPU? Any recollection if this is a victim of a spill?

Re: HP dv6000 startup problem

After I hear the fan spin (about a 1 sec), it just become so silent, but still the blue led's glowing. Yep, it was repaired some time ago, it was fan fault, they replaced it. But it was just few months ago, maybe it is fan again

Re: HP dv6000 startup problem

Fan spins about 1 second after power ON and laptop does not shut off... how about if HDD and CD drive is installed, do you hear any activity from these devices during startup (after power ON)? If you do but you see nothing on the LCD or the external monitor, it could be your video card or the motherboard.

I suggest you bring this to a repair shop for a more in-depth analysis.
