Gateway MX3414 Won't Boot, even in safe mode

My laptop won't boot even in safe mode. I get a message stating

The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\Default

Beginning dump of physical memory
Pysical memory dump complete.

What happened and how do I fix it????

You can use the XP install CD instead. I believe you can create the XP startup floppies if your unit has a floppy drive... get them here:

http://www.allbootdisks.com/download/xppro.html

Instructions are in their HOW-TO page.

Yeah... don't have anything but the computer. No floppy, just cd/dvd.
