Advent 5421 Laptop Help Please
i have a advent 5421 laptop with a t1500 cpu ive been expereiencing some problems with it example when i open the screen fully the screen gets vetical lines and sometimes turns green but if i shut the laptop screen half way it turns back to normal and works perfectly but when i open fully it gets the vertical line problem and a green screen i think that it may be a loose conection or something with the lcd
can anyone help me please is there anything i could do to fix it. i had the standard windows home basic upgraded to vista ultimate. Last edited by TriggerFinger; 02-25-2009 at 12:20 PM. |

Re: Advent 5421 Laptop Help Please
Hi,
Update the video drivers first and then adjust display settings (resolution, color, etc.). Also test it with an external monitor. If you know how, go into BIOS settings.. without changing anything in the BIOS settings, observe if the screen is OK or still giving out the green background or fuzzy text. Check also the cables and make sure they are seated securely.

Re: Advent 5421 Laptop Help Please
If LCD shows the same problems in BIOS but not in an external monitor, your LCD may need to be replaced.
As for the cables... sometimes screen problems are caused by the video cables not seated well... connection is bad.

Re: Laptop Help Please
There is a problem in the LCD's connection to the motherboard. The video cable is a flat ribbon cable. See if you can disassemble the LCD and make sure this cable is not being pinched or stretched.

Re: Advent 5421 Laptop Help Please
The Lcd screen is pretty easy to disassemble Remove the rubber stubbs from the top and bottom of the screen then remove the 6 screws, carefully insert your nails into the four corners seperating the front and back . then run your nail carefully around the sides to unclip the clips be very careful along the bottom because the clips have a good hold . there we have the bezzle apart . Looking at the lcd you will 4 screws on the hinge remove these and remove the 3 screws along both sides, the back of the lcd should now drop back and your left with the lcd attached to the brackets . Remove the inverter cable found to the right at the bottom of the lcd moniter . and looking at the back carefully pull off the tape holding the moniter cable then pulling down should remove this cable . Finally remove the 4 screws either side of the bracket and your done Lcd should now be removed, to replace just reverse the procedure .
