Help my laptop won"t turn on!
HI,
I was using my computer one night and it worked perfectly fine. The next day I tried turning it on and it wouldn't turn on, I tried charging it but the battery light won't turn on. The AC adaptors light is on but the computer has no sign of charging. When I do try to turn it on, the power light turns on and the battery button turns on sometimes for less than a second and sometimes it stays on. I hear the fans working but then it does peeeeuuu noise and the power button turns off. Since this happened the screen has only turned on about 4 times, it said VAIO and showed some letters and then it turned off. I went to Best Buy today, they asked me what was wrong so I told them the problem but they didn't even bother checking, all they said was that there might be something wrong with the hardware or the motherboard. If you could please help me out ASAP I would really appreciate it. Thank You! |

Re: Help my laptop won"t turn on!
Try with a new or good/working RAM. Replace all the ones installed.

Re: Help my laptop won"t turn on!
No need to buy... borrow one as it is just for testing purposes. RAM is for Random Access Memory.
Sorry to ask this... but just in case you have the memory at hand... do you know how to replace? That would entail opening some parts of the laptop like the memory bay. Given your problem it might reach the point that you need to open the laptop up? If you are not comfortable doing this, I suggest you take this to a repair shop instead of doing it on your own.

Re: Help my laptop won"t turn on!
Hello Maria,
It could be a number of things, true the Ram (Random Access Memory), they are little sticks inside that help run all the software. Usually there is a little panel at the bottom of the laptop, unscrew it and you will see small Green rectangular chips. It could also be The CPU Chip on the motherboard get a little hot! And shuts down. If that’s the case, it needs to be opened and a paste added on the chip to cool it down. It’s a processes of elimination, to be honest it probably not a simple "home fix" If it’s under warrantee PERFECT!, LOOK at the Bottom of the laptop on a silver sticker, should be a number beginning S/N- this is your serial Number call the place you bought it from or the manufacturer themselves I would avoid PC World like the plague! They Only format & re-install. Anything else they charge a fortune. Try a local PC Shop! Get them to have a look. if your in London there are a few good ones!
