HP DV6324US - Blank Screen

Hello,
I have a HP Laptop that stopped working over night...
Basically, when I turn the PC on, all the BLUE Leds come on (Power, function keys, etc..), just like if the computer is booting, however, the screen is always BLACK, and it seems like the PC reboots by itself every 45 seconds or so.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to fix this.
This is what I've tried so far, with no SUCCESS:

1- Took the battery out for 5 minutes, tried to power the PC again..
2- Replaced the Memory with a working memory.
3- Replaced the Hard Drive with a working HD.
4- Plugged a VGA cable - Monitor and pressed Function+f4

I don't know what else to do.. Could it be the CPU? Motherboard?
Thanks!

Before anything else, read the document on the link below and see if your specific model falls under those affected...

Re: HP DV6324US - Blank Screen

Thanks a lot.
Looks like it's a BIOS update that changes the FAN (makes it run constantly..)
I found out today the issue was the CPU.. It's dead.. so I ordered another one..
If I still have problems with the new CPU, I'll just contact HP.
Now, I have another question

I disassembled the entire laptop.. Will them cover my warranty, if they notice it was previously opened?
Thanks again.

So is your model one of those affected as listed in the document?

CPU is defective? I am curious because this seldom happens in laptops.. unless a CPU upgrade was attempted...

About the warranty... AFAIK they would void the warranty once the laptop was opened up and a fix was attempted. But since this is a special case (defective units) I am not so sure anymore.

Re: HP DV6324US - Blank Screen

Yes.. Looks like the CPU was overheated .. Probably because the PC had the OLD BIOS installed, which turns the FANS off once in a while..

My PC is on that list...

I suggest you assemble it back together and call HP. They will send you a box and a form to fill up. You may need to describe the problem to them over the phone. (I sent you a PM). I still say you try this method.. who knows you might get it repaired for free or your CPU and mobo replaced.

Re: HP DV6324US - Blank Screen

Any word on if it was indeed the CPU? I am having the EXACT same problem, continuous reboots and a black screen with the media buttons on. Have also tried the steps outlined above with no success.

I have called HP and they are siting a motherboard issue. And even though my PC is listed on the recall link above, they are saying since it is past warranty and past the 24 months since the start of the warranty, that the program has expired. To compensate they are going to do the motherboard, shipping and taxes for $280.

I just want to know if you had identified it as the CPU or the motheboard, so I can try to find one for cheaper and install it myself.

Thanks
