External monitor for Acer Aspire 4520
Hi everyone,
I got an Acer Aspire 4520 with Windows XP. I'm tying to use external monitor but when I'm plugged a VGA cable in the VGA port, the Laptop shutdown/crash instantly. How can I do? I wanna see my Laptop Desktop on my TV. Please help me. |

Re: External monitor for Acer Aspire 4520
Just in case you have not checked it... was the external monitor working before? Did you hook up everything prior to power ON of laptop? See below:
1. Laptop and external monitor OFF 2. Connect external monitor vga cable to laptop. 3. Power ON monitor 4. Power ON laptop Post back what you observed.

Re: External monitor for Acer Aspire 4520
Have you tried any other external monitors so far? If so, are the symptoms the same?

Re: External monitor for Acer Aspire 4520
Looks like a bad motheboard. Check VGA connector if it has come loose. I am not so sure if VGA connector is directly soldered on the mobo (I think it is) that is why I think may you need a new mobo.
I suggest you have it checked in a repair shop for a more deeper analysis.

Re: External monitor for Acer Aspire 4520
Along the Same lines I have an Acer Aspire One (Windows XP Home Version 2002 Pack 3) and a Panasonic TH-42PE7U Plasma TV. No luck getting the TV to work as a monitor. I am using a VGA to AV & S-video cables (http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-TO-S-VIDEO-%...318124006r2168). I hookup the computer and TV (both off) and 1st turn the TV on then the computer. I went to Control panel and did the “select the 2 screen and clicked Extend my Windows…” nothing on the TV. I tried the Monitor switch button (F5 on my computer) and still nothing. Can anyone offer suggestions as to what might be the problem?
