Cd/dvd drive won't work!!! Please help me!
Hi,
I've got a toshiba satellite u300 laptop with CD/DVD writer The CD drive seems to have failed. It still opens and makes normal noises when you put the disc in (light flashes orange?? don't know if that's normal??) but the computer doesn't seem to recognise the drive- it doesn't appear on explorer. I used it about a week ago and it was fine and i haven't dropped the laptop or installed anything new since. Anyone else had these problems or knows how to fix it?? (ie is it likely to be software or hardware failure?? and how expensive to mend??) such a pain- it's only a month out of guarantee :( thanks for your help |

Try to follow the instructions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461 If that does not help, uninstall the device in Device Manager (that is if you see it there) and reboot.
