No sound Dell Inspiron 1720

Hi, I have a Dell inspiron 1720 and the sound is not working. I have Stigmatel High Definition Audio Codec installed. It was working perfectly up to Yesterday. I had my laptop hooked up to the tv and sound was fine until I disconnected it from the tv. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but that did not work, when I go in to sound it says everything is working fine, but even when I have volume up full, there is absolutely no sound. Can anyone help me with this problem??

Check Sound and Audio Devices Properties... in Audio tab, check the default device. Make changes to the entries there as needed.

I'm a bit dumb when it comes to sound issues as I never had any problems before..how do I go find Sound and Audio Devices Properties. Is it in sounds in the control panel, because I can see no tab for audio anywhere there. I am using vista..

Yes it is under Control Panel. If you are using Vista, may be it is in Playback or Sound tabs.
