Icons not working

Hi,

Please help me to overcome the problem in my laptop.

I am having, HP pavilion dv9658ea laptop, its system has Intel core (TM) 2duo, T7250 @ 2.00 GHz, 2 GB Ram, 320 GB HD, 32 bit operating system, vista.

The laptop is around 3 months old. It used to work fine, but for last 2-3 weeks its all the icons on the desktop stop working when I leave the laptop idle for more than around 5 minutes. All the vital features like internet, internet browsers, power options, word, excel, sound and almost all the icons stop working. Some time few features work when I go to control panel and open the concerned icon there. but most of the time most of the features dont work. some times even start menu does not work.

I have checked all the power options and have put all the power options on advance power settings to never stop/idle/sleep/hybernate. Even than its desktop/internet downloading stops after few minute, I leave the laptop idle.
To fix the laptop, everytime I need to restart the laptop. I can use the internet only after restarting the laptop. If I go on using the laptop & internet without leaving the laptop idle, than there is no problem.
