Fujitsu Amilo Li2727 Recovery Question
My daughter has a Fujitsu Amilo LI2727 which is the same model as my wifes.
The machine has failed, giving disk read error, on boot, and the retailer we got from (Staples in the UK), having looked at the machine, which is still under warranty, has suggested it's probably due to having lost it's Vista Home Basic OS for some reason and to use the recovery disks to reinstall before seeking a return. The only problem is that my daughter never created the recovery disks. but the retailer confirmed that the disks can be used to restore any laptop of the same model so are not machine specific. I have a set made with my wifes laptop and tried them on my daughters machine but the restore got to the point where it said data is being recovered and then just sat there inert. Having tried a couple of times I have now realised that they are written on DVD-R but the Fujitsu documentation says only to use DVD+R. The mistake was because the main documentation says use either DVD-R or DVD+R but a small insert, which I missed, says only to use DVD+R. I think this is may be due to data being written differently on DVD-R & DVD+R disks but I not exactly sure how this works. As I understand it the creation of the recovery disks is a one-off facility so unless anyone can give me a workaround I can't recreate another set on DVD+R with my wifes laptop but instead need to copy the disks to DVD+R but of course it needs to be bootable. I also hope that this will then work, if not it means buying a set from Fujitsu for about £30(GBP). I have created an iso image with Nero of my wifes disks. Am I right in assuming that when I burn the iso image to a DVD+R it will be bootable, like the original. If not, how can I create a new bootable DVD from the one I have. Thanks |

Re: Fujitsu Amilo Li2727 Recovery Question
I believe you have a bootable DVD+R already and you want that in DVD-R.. why not use Copy Disc option? D/load help file here: http://ftp6.nero.com/tutorials/nero7...hm_tut_eng.zip

Re: Fujitsu Amilo Li2727 Recovery Question
Thanks but other way around, I have the data on DVD-R and need to get it onto DVD+R.
I have Nero 8 Express Essentials SE and although it does have a copy function it isn't the same as the tutorial you pointed me, the options seem limited. Also, I'm sure I've read somewhere that a straight disk to disk copy doesn't write the files required for booting, but perhaps I'm wrong. As I said I have created an iso image which I though should copy everything required to make the copy bootable, as per the original, but wasn't 100% certain. |

Re: Fujitsu Amilo Li2727 Recovery Question
Copy Disc option should work regardless if it is CD or DVD or -R or +R. You can try the ISO but I doubt if it will make the target disc bootable. My advise is.. why not try it? You have nothing to lose except for a few discs anyway.
I believe there is still that function for a Copy Disc in Nero Essentials... may be not worded exactly the same way as 'Copy Disc'... On the other hand.. if you have tried this and it did not work then my apologies for not being able to help out... may be other members can... BUT.. if you have not tried it at all then you cannot say if it is working or NOT. Btw if your Nero is limited, may be you have a friend who has the full version that is willing to help you.
