Gateway w340ua burning up
I have a gateway w340ua laptop the fan is running but the bottom of this thing is getting hot enough to burn ya
what could this be? |

Depending on what you are doing with it, it can get very hot, this is common on laptops. Even just being on mine right now (just internet) it is at 44 degrees C. If I play a game (more of a hardware stressing game) or run Folding @ home, it is not uncommon for it to get up to 65, 70 degrees.
What I do sugesst is downloading and installing speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php I would watch to make sure the tempurtaure isn't going much hotter than mine really, I'm not sure the max temp yours can safely handle but the 70 is getting close to the max on mine. I would also suggest cleaning out the area around the fan (can of compressed air, vacum). Just be careful not to put too much pressure on the fins of the fan so it breaks them. |
