It seems my daughters Acer Aspire Gemstone 7520 is yet again plagued with problems!
Whilst using it for about half an hour, the screen faded out and then no power. I tried using the power cable from my own Acer Aspire but got nothing. Even the batter seems completely dead. I've read on some forums that it could be the power jack but wouldn't have the faintest idea on how to fit a new one of these? But if its the power jack wouldn't the battery still work? All help and advice great appreciated!!! |

Re: No power
You mean the laptop just shut off while being used and it cannot power ON after that?
Remove the battery and unplug AC adapter. Press and hold the power button for 30 secs atleast. Put back the battery and plug back the AC adapter. Power ON as normal. Post back what you find out

Re: No power
Try to power ON with only the battery attached. Make sure battery is good and working. Also try with AC alone. In both attempts observe if you see LEDs light up. If you get no signs of life, it could be the power on switch or the motherboard.

Re: No power
Have tried both already, no sign on life and no lights come on.
I took it to the tech guys in PC world they tested the power cable and its fine. Said if its the motherboard I'd be paying about £200 to replace it which is more than I prepared to pay! |

Re: No power
It is possible that it is the motherboard that has gone bad. I would definitely consider getting a new laptop if the price difference is not that big.

Re: No power
Yep... I am quite surprised why PC World missed that. Oh well... at least now you know for sure.
I am marking this thread as SOLVED.
