XP dual boot with vista problem

Hello,
Can someone tell me why i can't start my xp in my laptop.
I've successfully installed vista in my laptop in another partition.
now i cant access my xp os in the laptop. it loads but after the loading screen it goes black and doesnt go to log in screen or welcome screen.
any leads how to fix this?

i also have a question, can't i run the programs i installed with my xp os like antivirus?

Is Vista loading properly?

Just to clarify, when you boot, do get to the menu where it lets you choose between XP and Vista?
