Question Sony Vio Lights up then Dies 3sec

Hi I have Sony Vio laptop pcg-grx550 - It Start's light's flick then shuts down, Pull every thing one at a time, Down to the processor before the power light stayed on, So I rpelaced the processor, and same results. Lost at this point. Any one agree it a bad mother board Strange thing is the sticker on the laptop said pent 4 but the Processor is a pent 3. 1.4
Anyone Have any suggestions.

Where did you get the laptop? I find it difficult to believe that the sticker/label is not the original... may be from another laptop. On the other hand, it is also almost impossible to believe that the CPU installed is not compatible unless someone has tried to repair (play with) it before it got to you.

On the other hand, I had that experience before... putting a different model of CPU. The symptoms I got was quite different. My computer turned ON but I did not get anything on the monitor... I do not think it even started POST. What I am saying is... in your case, I do not think it is the CPU but then again I may be wrong. I think it is the mobo but of course unless you try the correct CPU, you would not know.
