Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 BSOD and DEP
Can you boot into Safe Mode? How about Last known good configuration?

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 BSOD and DEP
It may sound too drastic but I believe a fresh install of the operating system can be very helpful here. Besides, it looks like the laptop has lots of Windows related problems.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 BSOD and DEP
If you are using XP try a repair of Windows if that might help. Not as destructive as reinstall of Windows. Here's the steps:

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 BSOD and DEP
The only thing you need to highlight is the location where your Windows is located... it asks for that so it will know which Windows installation to repair. In your case you should see something similar to the image below:

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 BSOD and DEP
If you can go Safe Mode try msconfig at command prompt and edit startup entries... disable all except for one and reboot. If you can boot normally, edit msconfig again, enabling the startup programs one at a time. Once you find out which one causes the error, disable that program and uninstall/reinstall it if needed.
