Laptop battery wont charge after installing XP

Well i just found an old laptop its a Compaq Presario 1200z originally it had Windows Millennium which just wasnt cutting edge enough for me, so i installed Windows XP onto it and now it wont charge the battery, it worked fine before so i know its not the battery, and it works with just the AC cord. I have a feeling i need to get a dll file but not sure which one or where to find it.

Post the model of the Compaq.

I'm wondering if you might need to update some drivers ?

I looked around and could find no way to look at or download drivers for this thing. HP/Compaq has very poor support. I'd never buy any of their products.

Try going to the link, and ask the marginally-trained monkey if they have any drivers for your laptop.

One level higher, there is a whole bunch of fixes for the XP "upgrade". One (or all) of these might fix all the problems.

No sign of any hardware drivers though.

Have you gone to Windows Update, and checked to see if there are hardware drivers available ?

yes i have checked windows i don't think they support this model or its too old.
And i probably wouldn't buy a compaq either i got it free, and figured i could get some use out of it, thanks for the help though.
