ram card issues

i have a dell 2650 laptop. i replaced the 20 gig hard drive with a 160gig and everything worked fine but i wanted to upgrade the ram card from 127 to 512. i ordered one off ebay and when i installed it the computer comes on but the monitor wont. i put the old ram back in and it works fine. any suggestions? i emailed the seller with the issue, just didnt know if it might be something other than a faulty ram card.

Re: ram card issues

According to link below, your laptop supports maximum of 512MB only... each slot can support up to 256MB only (you have 2 slots, so 2 x 256MB = 512MB).

If you put in one stick of 512MB in any of the slots, it may not work as it is NOT SUPPORTED.
