Replacing LCD monitor

My laptop recently fell and cracked the LDC display. I don't want to replace the whole laptop because it still works. I have it plugged into my tv so I can still use it, but it has now become a desk top which defeats the purpose of getting a laptop. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a new screen and some basic instructions on how to install it?

My laptop is a 17" HP Pavillion dv9700

Thanks

Re: Replacing LCD monitor

Hi, welcome to TSF

A quick google search found this 17" screen on eBay for $110US ( link). I haven't found any online stores yet. I'll post back if I do.

Re: Replacing LCD monitor

Yeah, right after I posted this I found the ones on ebay too. I called this one website and they asked me what type of screen it was. I guess there are 3 different types. 1) how do I find that out and 2) how easy is it to replace a screen.

Thanks for the quick response!!

Re: Replacing LCD monitor

Sorry, I don't work with laptops at all. You were just unlucky to get me as your first reply.

Hang on for some more replies from our laptop users.

You could contact the eBay seller. He has a good reputation, so if he wants to make a sale I'm sure he'll answer any questions you have.

Re: Replacing LCD monitor

Try to get the model number and manufacturer of this LCD screen (you may have to do some disassembling of the laptop to get to this information). Then look for compatible LCD screens.
