DVD Problem

i have compaq 8x dvd rom which runs some dvds but dont even load the majority dvds, and simply gives a notice that no disc found. is it due to the writing x of the dvds or some problem with the lense. and tell me how to fix it please.

Try using a DVD-cleaner and see if that fixes the problem. How old is the drive? It may have just aged and does not work properly anymore. They are quite cheap to replace, so you might want to consider doing that if cleaning it does not work.

well i tried the cleaner but it does not work. its 1 year old. i tried dvd identifier it said that dvds written in 6x or more will be hard for your dvd to read and most of the times it wont. so looks like i gotta change my dvd rom.
