Dropped My Laptop is it the Hard Drive??

So I have a Sony Vaio and I dropped it on its side. Now some programs do not load up properly and sometimes they restart/the computer restarts. The programs/computer runs slower during startups, shut offs, and when loading programs. Also sometimes in the toolbar "Hard Disk Drive Protection" pops up. So does the Hard Drive need to be replaced or???

Run your hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool... something like Hitachi Drive Fitness test (d/load link on my sig - HDD Diags)... yes, it could be damaged and may need replacement.
