Hey Guys
I'm having a problem with my gateway mx3701 laptop something happened with windows and i tryed to reinstall it i was able to begin the process through the initial setup process and after the first restart it came up with the error "Error Loading Operating System". Now, after that all of a sudden bios would not read the dvd driveso it couldn't even get back into the windows setup. Then I removed the hard drive turned it on and it read the dvd but no hdd because i removed it. i could even get into the initial windows setup. So i got a new hard drive and bios reads both the hd & dvd drives but after the boot sequence it doesn't recognize the cd as a boot cd it just reads the disk and passes right by. and comes up with the no os error. Then if i restart the system with crtl+alt+del and bios doesn't detect the dvd again i have to actually power down with the button and then bios dill detect both. Now i flashed the bios to to the newer version and the exact same thing is still happening. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!! |

Re: Gateway mx3701 bios, IDE problem HELP!!
Looks like you need to try a good working CD/DVD drive, a good/working HDD and be sure you are using a genuine/original XP or Vista installation media. Another way is to try your drives (CD/DVD and HDD) in another laptop. If you have not tried these yet, it is very hard to say that it is a BIOS problem.
