booting....

I have a compaq presario c700 ntoebook....One day it said it had a Trojan viruses and i tried to run a scan and fix it but then it went blank.... the computer now says "no bootable device-insert disk and press any key".....How can I fix this?

If there is no data on the HD you wanted saved try restore to factory settings. does the drive contain data you want off the HD?

Re: booting....

Check BIOS settings for BOOT sequence/order. Make sure HDD is on the list and not disabled. Also run an HDD diagnostic to test your hard drive for errors then run CHKDSK /R using XP Recovery Console. Also try Bootcfg /rebuild, fixboot, and fixmbr.
