Dell Inspiron 6000 Blue Screen Of Death
Got my first glorious Blue Screen Of Death on my year-ish old Dell inspiron 6000 laptop! Had no idea what it was at first, but i spoke to a mate and he said it was a BSOD. i googled it and youtubed it and a guy told me that if i entered the code number into google it would tell me whats causing this blighter! But i got no results, so i was hoping you guys could help me identify the cause!
Technical information: *** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8713C8B0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) PS. I've been having mega problems with the power supply (leaving it on at the mains over night for 4 months can't help) and I had used the laptop in the morning time and it was working fine. Id installed the latest windows live messenger but removed it again because i disliked it. I arrived home that afternoon and it blue-screen'd me... By the way. This is a 2nd computer, Im not typing this from the BSOD laptop! I reeeeally appreciate any help! Jack Last edited by The_Guitar_Hero; 01-17-2009 at 03:58 PM. |

Re: Dell Inspiron 6000 Blue Screen Of Death
I would advise you to run the diagnostics on F12 - if they are still there: can I assume that if you have had the I6000 for a year you have not had it from new.
The diagnostics will point out if it is an error with the hard drive, but it may well be a problem with windows itself. If you don't have the diagnostics partition now, go to the web site of the hard disk manufacturer and download their diagnostics. Assuming that the diagnostics come back ok, do you have the full windows disk for your system? You mention problems with the power supply. When plugged in to the electricity supply only, does the green light show? If so, then plug the other end in to the back of the computer. Does the light stay on or go out? |

Well its my dad's laptop, but im ther main user of it. We've had it from new as far as im aware. I ran the diagnostics through F12 the other night and it didnt actually show up a result at the end of it, once the diagnostic had finished it took me back to a menu where i chose to do a different type of scan (cant remember exactly, think it might have been a symptom scan) and to the right it showed: "FAIL Error code 3600:0649 Invalid AC adaptor reported" ..I hadn't even run the symptom scan at that stage. But yes, me being a divvy has left the laptop on at the mains supply anytime i wasnt using it for a goodfew months, and it had gotten to the point where the laptop was showing messages like "cannot detect AC adaptor" etc, yet it was still running off the mains supply when plugged in but not charging the battery. My dad took the laptop into his work for his I.T man to look at. He came home and told me that all the hard drive software needed rebuilding... Is this true or can I restore it to a safer point in a previous time? Thanks in advance, Jack |

Re: Dell Inspiron 6000 Blue Screen Of Death
well if the IT guy where your Dad works says that, it kind of ties in with the 2nd para of my post. Is the IT guy going to help on this? Also your power supply looks like it needs replacing. You could try the Dell site for that, you need to make sure any new power supply matches the one you have - look under the power brick for details.
