[SOLVED] broadcom 802.11

I am back with the same problem, not being able to hook the wireless up on an acer aspire 5000 that I have installed a new os to. I am not able to get the utility to open, nor am I able to see the icon on the desk top. I have activated the wireless using the activate button on the front of the laptop. The original install was xp pro, but the disk is no where to be found so I have installed xp pro using an install disk that I have, which can be used for unlimited installs on any computer minus the drives. I have gone to the acer site for all drives needed and have installed from what I can tell all the drives for this acer aspire 5000 that is required for the wireless to work. Any help in this matter would be well appreciated

What does it show under network adapters in device manager?

Well, that did not take long for a responds, I had posted a few days ago without any responds so I closed my thread. I have tried everything under the sun as far as getting the wright drives to take hold and nothing, so I am going back to the beginning by downloading the xp pro install from an installation disk I used the first time out where the broadcom 802 actually worked. I will post back in an hour or so and let you know what happens. Is there some type of order that I should be installing the drives in. My modem and wireless utility drives I mean.

I just completed my install and have about 98% of my updates completed. I have not installed any of the drives needed for the wireless as of yet. I am now working Device Manager and updating that. I stopped in to ask if I should complete all updates before trying to install the drives or does it really matter. I can send information from the laptop showing the device manager status if need be. I am using my pc to write this.

I have downloaded the drives, did not work.

Here is what Acer has for the aspire 5000

Actually the 3000, and 5000, are both running the same drive configuration. I got the drives from Acer America. Non of the drives for the wireless are working from the 5000 site. The acer 5000 wireless drive from that site cannot be read, I get an error message. I went into the files and found one that has a misspelled word, "corporation", which is spelled "corporatio". I can download the 3000 drive and install it, but still nothing. I am going to install "Windows 7 beta pretty son if this crap keeps up. It sure in the heck can't be any harder then this. I installed WIN7 on two computers, and the wireless end of it is USER FRIENDLY, so far.

Re: broadcom 802.11

Can You Right Click on the Network Controller error in the Device Manager>Properties>Details Tab

Post the DEV/VEN numbers you find under Device Instance ID.

Thanks,
Bill

Yes I'll do that, be wright back

let me know what else you might need

It seems as though all the # are there. I put the pointer on said # to show the full text. I thought it may have been cut short.
