Please help! Computer screen keeps going blank!
Hi everyone. There's this really annoying and frustrating problem with my laptop. I purchased in 2007 and it has been working fine until 3-4 months ago. So almost every time I'm using it, around 30-40 minutes later, the screen suddenly goes blank and is just black! If I want to use the computer again, I have to push the power button off and then on again. I think doing that isn't really good at all as I should be shutting it down the proper way. Can you guys please help me fix this problem? Thanks so much!

Re: Please help! Computer screen keeps going blank!
Have you tried an external monitor? Does the problem happen with the external monitor also? If not, the LCD backlight or inverter may be on the verge of dying. Also, when the monitor has gone black, shine a bright light on it and see if you can see dim writing on the screen. That is another indication of dead/dying inverter and/or backlight.

Re: Please help! Computer screen keeps going blank!
I totally agree with the second post.
I have fixed numerous laptops and when it comes to a screen going blank after a certain time, it indicates a definite hardware problem. Just like the other person said, try hooking up a monitor to the VGA port on the laptop and see if the problem persist. If the external monitor goes blank as well, then the problem definitely lies on the video-card. |
