Buying a laptop- consult needed.

Hey guys. I'll apologise for being one of those "1 post people" but I've looked everywhere and can't quite find an answer.

Anyway, my friend is offering me me his laptop as he is getting a new desktop. I intend to use the laptop as a gaming laptop, as it is all I really need a laptop for.

The specs are (to my knowledge)

XP SP2
80GB HD
2GB Ram
Dual Core Processor.
17" Screen
1 Year old.

He's unsure of the GFX card, but I imagine it is quite good. I'll get him to clarify it and edit this when I find out.

He wants £300 for it, and I was wondering if that's a good offer or not. I'm not too good about laptop hardware so I haven't got a very useful insight to the price range.

Any help you can give will be appreciated.
Cheers.

Welcome to TSF,

we really need to know what type of games you like to play and the computers brand and exact model (not series) - generally laptops are not really that good for extreme gaming. Once you tell the model, we should be able to tell you what type of graphic it has.

Thank you.

Well, it's a Dell. Not too sure of the model, I have yet to talk to the guy.

I intend to mainly use it for World of Warcraft. Pretty easy to run game but in 25 man dungeons the fps goes to 1 on minimum requirements.

I would like to use it for older games such as Star Ocean, older PS1 RPG's.

Cheers.
