Correct memory for Acer Aspire 5602WLMi
Is anyone able to advise me on a memory matter with my Aspire 5602 WLMi laptop? I am looking to upgrade my laptop to 4 Gb of memory. It is presently running 2 * 1Gb ( DDR2-533 SODIMM RAM Memory, I think) and I was advised by another vendor that 2 Gb is the max allowed. My user notes with this machine shows 4Gb is allowed.
Another vendor again recommended to me two Corsair DDR2 667 2Gb modules which I purchased but I cannot get them to work. Is anyone able to kindly advise ? Thanks

Re: Correct memory for Acer Aspire 5602WLMi
According to Crucial website it should be 4GB. I suggest you try another brand (I had the same experience with Corsair but only resolved when I replaced with Patriot). I also suggest to check with ACER support for any BIOS related updates.

Thanks very muc h for your help. I was behind with the BIOS and have since flashed the update. I again tried the 667 modules and found out through fiddling around with the placement order that a 2Gb and a 1Gb worked to give me around 3 Gb, which I understand is the max I can expect with a 32 bit system. I purchesed 'The UltimateTroubleshooter' to try and clean up the system as the CPU is working at 100% a lot of the time with 1 Gb of memory being used so in effect I find that the laptop is no faster especially at starting.
Thanks again for your help. |
