power on

when i try to switch on my laptop it doesnt switch on to windows. though power reaches computer power supply. what may be the problem?

Hi there,

Can you please elaborate on "though power reaches computer power supply"? Post your system specs. Since your laptop won't boot into windows you might want to try performing a windows repair, check disk repair, and possibly fix the master boot record.

Another thing you can do is to test the HDD for any errors and see if the HDD is failing. Also you can test the laptop memory with memtest86 and see if the problem lies on the RAM. Hope this helps you out.

Yeah, wait a second. "It doesn't switch on to Windows" means what, exactly? It switches on to Linux? NBC? The mummer's parade?
First question is do the lights that indicate that the laptop is powering up light up? If they do, does the hard drive activity light blink? Does your display turn on? Do you get any activity on the display at all? If so, what is it? Have you had any problems like this in the past?
And while we are playing 20 questions, what make and model laptop is it? What operating system are you running?
Well, that will do for a start.
