Re: dell 9100 laptop non stop fan
Yeah the fan should be on all the time, maybe you can change something in the BIOS to make it quieter?

Re: dell 9100 laptop non stop fan
Hello,
I have just fixed this issue with my Inspiron 9100 laptop. I have had had constant loud fan noise for at least 6 months and terrible performance. Yesterday I totally took the laptop apart using the step by step guides on Dells support site. I then removed the CPU and totally cleaned the old thermal paste off the CPU and the heat sink (using a good quality alcohol) and then re-applied a good quality thermal paste (I used arctic silver thermal paste). I cleaned out all the 3 fans of dust and fluff (processor and video card fans) and put it all back together using the step by step instructions, but in reverse. The laptop is now whisper quiet - i can't get the fans to go on, I will be loading a game on it tonight to put it through it's paces but I am confident it is fixed. It's like being given a new laptop compared to how bad it was before. V happy. best of luck with it. |
