Re: My HP Pavillion dv6000 will not shut down
You can first go into Task Manager - by doing a "Alt+Ctrl+Del", and select "Start Task Manager" and check to see what task/process is running that is preventing the shutdown.
It could be some softwares that you installed. |

Re: My HP Pavillion dv6000 will not shut down
Also, go to Start>Run. Type in "msconfig" without the quotes, go to the startup tab and disable everything (disconnect from the internet first, you will be turning off your firewall too).
Then shut it down anyway you can and restart. You'll see a window pop up saying "You have used the system configuration utility to blah, blah, blah". Check that little box in the lower left and close the window. Now hit shutdown. If it shuts down ok then go back into the System configuration utility (msconfig), check your firewall and antivirus program and restart. Those two are the only two you really need running. Let's see if that helps or not. |
