Connecting via wireless laptop
Currently have a e system computer which has small spec and is a pc desktop not a notebook or laptop we are buying a laptop.
The internet is done through virgin media via a surf cable modem and ethernet cable to the back of tower but on laptop it has connect wirelessly to a wireless network. How can use internet if laptop dont have ethernet port do need to buy a dongle or something, what else need to buy to connect to internet how does it work if have a co axial cable for connection right now what can we use to connect via the laptop. Wirelessly does that mean its build in and so is the modem. Sorry no specific spec right now but its a HP from PC world |

Re: Connecting via wireless laptop
Hi,
Most laptops have both an ethernet (Lan) and a Wireless card (Wlan). If you wish to connect the laptop wirelessly you will need to purchase/obtain a wireless router. The wireless router would connect to your Vigin media modem. Once connected you can have both a wireless connection and a Lan connection for you PC's and Laptops. Most wireless routers have intructions on CD to install them to your Virgin media modem. Hope this helps Bill |
