Acer Travelmate 3212WXMi Overheating
Hi,
My laptop (Acer Travelmate 3212WXMi) started overheating day before yesterday and up to a certain point it often hangs. Sometimes there is a blue screen of death that pops up and states that the problem is with 'ati2dvag' that gets stuck in an infinite loop. When the system hangs and I reboot, there is a message stating that the system had recovered from a serious error, and the details vary like in the following 3 examples: BCCode : 100000ea BCP1 : 86CE6DA8 BCP2 : 86EF6BD0 BCP3 : B879DCB4 BCP4 : 00000001 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1 C:\DOCUME~1\U0501115\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER952b.dir00\Mini123008-01.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\U0501115\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER952b.dir00\sysdata.xml BCCode : 100000ea BCP1 : 86CDEA28 BCP2 : 86D24E50 BCP3 : B716FCB4 BCP4 : 00000001 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1 C:\DOCUME~1\U0501115\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5132.dir00\Mini123108-01.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\U0501115\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5132.dir00\sysdata.xml BCCode : 100000ea BCP1 : 85D10D70 BCP2 : 86CD0A40 BCP3 : B84A1CB4 BCP4 : 00000001 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1 C:\DOCUME~1\U0501115\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERb858.dir00\Mini123108-01.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\U0501115\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERb858.dir00\sysdata.xml Previously, my laptop had overheated regularly and around Nov 2008 the system kept rebooting to recover from a serious error, but after dust was cleaned out from the fan, everything resumed running smoothly. This time round I tried to clean the fan as well but there appeared to be no dust on it. If this info is necessary, my video adapter seems to be ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700 PCI Express / 64MB VRAM. I am really perplexed as to what is wrong with my laptop; would appreciate any advice, thanks :)! Also if possible please explain in non-jargon terms as I am quite bad at recognising tech terms. Sorry about that! Thanks! |
