DVD/CD is making crackling sounds

I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4254 that won't allow me to import songs from CD's into itunes any longer. It now makes scratchy, crackling noise and sounds like it's almost skipping. I have cleaned the reader with alcohol and the CD's are brand new. I've also tried viewing DVD's and I get the crackling noise. When I release the drive to take out the CD/DVD the drive seems wobbly. Any suggestions?

Seems to me you have a defective CD drive. Try booting from the CD drive (use a bootable CD like BartPE, Knoppix or Ubuntu) just to know if it can read CDs without problems. If it behaves the same, may be you need to replace the drive itself.
