EEK! PROBLEM:SCREEN Acer Aspire One mini notebook screen shrinks to 3/4 of the normal size

I just got this Acer Aspire One mini notebook like a week ago. It worked fine until now. The screen shrunk to about 75%, there is a black bar thing on the right side. I tried changing the setting on Control Panel>Display but it didn't do any good. it just tried to fit the windows into the tiny screen. I took a pic of the screen, link below:

If anyone knows what the problem is, or what to do, please respond to this post as soon as you can. Thank you.

Is it possible to hook up an external monitor to your Aspire ONE? If so, try it and observe if you get the same symptoms. Also if your ASPIRE ONE can boot using Knoppix or Ubuntu, try it also just to rule out Windows drivers issue.

Re: PROBLEM:SCREEN Acer Aspire One mini notebook screen shrinks to 3/4 of the normal

I just bought an Aspire One also and am experiencing the same problem. I have to shutdown and reboot and then it goes away.

I can't relate the behavior to anything that I am doing or not doing.

Did you find out the cause or how to prevent it?

I tried removing the McAfee security from the device and loading Norton instead but it did not change the situation.

Re: PROBLEM:SCREEN Acer Aspire One mini notebook screen shrinks to 3/4 of the normal

I tried removing the battery, and rebooting. It solves the problem for awhile then the screen goes crazy again. It went on for weeks, so i called acer service center and took it in for repairs since its still under warranty. They replaced the LCD and updated the bios. I reformatted it to fix the gargled sound when it boots up or whenever I play music. Now its as good as new again.

If your unit is still new, its most definitely still under warranty. So I think its best to just have it checked, repairs and replacement are free, that saves you time and less hassle.
