Transfering from desktop to a laptop

Greetings

I acquired a Compaq Presario2200, its running XP office, service pac-3 already installed.
I want to make the laptop mine alone.... no kids/grandkids etc.
I need help with moving stuff from my desk top to the lap top.
Like mail folders, inbox, sent items etc.
I added my email account on the laptop, but the emails got to the desk top computer not the laptop.
Do i need to delete the email account from the desktop?
I looked to see if i could disable it, but couldn't find anything.

The desktops running Microsoft Outlook
and the Laptops running Microsoft Office Outlook.

I will probably need some help with other things too and I'll post em as they come up.

Like this one...
Vonage
I have Vonage, but the wireless router does not have a place for the phone line.
Apparently theres some adapter i need to make it work again.

and installation info would be helpful as well...

Another question...
how the heck do i print from my laptop...
I have a nice HP Officejet Pro L7580

Ok thats it for now.
And once again Thanks to all who read this and help me out.

Everyone have a Nice Christmas and be safe if you have to travel to relatives homes.

Re: Transfering from desktop to a laptop

Wait!, no its not compulsory to delete the other email account. If the laptop's email is correctly configured, the emails should be received in the first computer you press send & receive. I`ll post detailed instructions a bit later today on migrating your emails. Check your email configuration.

Re: Transfering from desktop to a laptop

If you have the same account on two different computers...The computer that you accesses the email account will receive the emails.

I recently helped a friend with that...He forwarded all of his emails to me.
We wiped his drive and reinstalled the OS...And I sent them back to him.

Re: Transfering from desktop to a laptop

Ok i figured out how to print from my laptop
im pretty good at digging up info on the web/this site and others...
I had to create a network.
It took a little time and couple trys but i can print now... YES

Now on too the other issues....
Im thinking that i could add my outlook to my shared folder file on the other computer and access it from the laptop and get my saved mail to this computer. I put a shortcut in the shared folder, but it didn't work.
Do i have to but the whole file in the shared folder?
And how would i do that?

Thats it for now

Thanks
Tony

I gave you a real simple solution...Simply email them to your new machine.

Re: Transfering from desktop to a laptop

Thanks I did just that...
I forwarded them to myself..
i had to disable the incoming mail on the desktop computer cause when i sent then at first i was just getting them right back....
so i went thru them as well and deleted the ones that were not a essential.

Now im trying to get music files from the desktop to the laptop.
I have a few thousand, in Limewire..
im on a home network and i was trying to add limewire to the shared folder, without success.
pluss im iffy on if im getting to the shared folder at all.

thanks for the help

Boy a few thousand is a lot of work...But I have transferred music files the same way (Via email).

Edit: Right click on the music file... double click on Send to...and double click on mail recipient.
