Cry Laptop monitor having issues

Hi guys, a couple of days ago my Sony Vaio VGN fe-31h starting looking rather strange on screen. It seems that certain shades aren't being displayed properly and are instead shown as vertical or horizontal coloured lines. I'm now fairly sure its a problem with the monitor, I'm running Vista Ultimate but it persists if I boot up into Damn Small Linux and the BIOS page looks slightly odd as well. I've tried uninstalling and reintalling drivers for my graphics card to no avail, I've tried various resolutions and colour schemes, and I've taken a screenshot and sent it to another computer where it looked perfectly fine. Is my laptops monitor on its way out? Or is there some way to coax some more life out of it? Thanks in advance.

Re: Laptop monitor having issues

Yup, color distortions on the LCD is a sign of a bad LCD or a bad video chip. If you have tried it with an external monitor and color distortions DO NOT appear, then your LCD could be on its way out.

Ok thanks, It's still useable for now so I'll struggle on until it completely goes.

Re: [SOLVED] Laptop monitor having issues

I'm having a similar problem with my Dell. Any idea how much it will cost to get fixed?
