Aight guys this is probably gonna take a collective of all the tech savy minds up in here. Here's the problem that's driven me to wit's end:
I have a SONY VAIO GRZ-610 everything was fine until I caught a virus. Now unless I'm mistaken it was put on my Fujitsu 160GB external hard drive by some hater. Ain't mentioning any names. Don't remember the exact name of the virus but it had "vorbis" somewhere in the name. I was using AVIRA at the time and it detected it, but could not delete it. So I checked online and got a couple suggestions. After I did what I thought would erase the issue, I was faced with a new problem. When I try to open the drive from My Computer I get this message "Cannot find script file F:/ntidir.vbs" If I open it from Run it's fine. At this point I'm thinking i'm rid of the virus. Some time later I notice that my laptop is really struggling to run basic files. I decided to monitor the CPU usage. Sometimes even when idle it would jump up to high percentages approaching 100%. Now I cant view videos, pictures, even listen to music without the machine jumping up to 100% and forcing me to cut off all programs. I mentioned this to a friend of mine and he suggested formatting the hard drive and reinstalling windows. We did that, I connected my Fujitsu external hard drive again starting playing music for a bit. Eventually same problem, music starts to skip and chop...I don't know what to do. I've got alot of files on the drive that I need. I hope SOMEONE here can help me out 'cause for real, I'm stuck right now. Much appreciated...will check back later K.B. |

Re: Huge Problem!
you've reformatted your laptop, it was fine. you plugged in your external hard drive, everything went ka-poot. could it be something on your external hard drive? did you re-format that too?
if you think your still infected, go to the security centre If you think your computer is infected.... |

Re: Huge Problem!
Hi,
If you formatted and the problem went away until you connected your external. I think that we have found the problem area. I would recommend that you scrub your external hdd clean, with a program like GParted. GParted is an Open-source program that is run from a livecd or usb flash drive. This is a great program for doing re-formats. After that if you are still having issues then I would take a look at the link posted above. Cheers!
