e-systems 3085 laptop wireless disabled at startup
I have an e-system 3085 laptop with a built in wireless adapter, the problem is that every time i boot up into windows xp I have to press the wireless hotkey on the keyboard to enable it. does anyone know how to have it enabled all the time.
ps. this laptop was recently reloaded and i had to download the drivers from the internet, i could not find a keyboard/touchpad driver and therefore have no system tray icon to set up these hotkeys. |

If you are using Intel wireless there is a downloadable program that could be set to turn the RADIO ON or OFF.

Re: e-systems 3085 laptop wireless disabled at startup
sorry should have given a bit more info.
the laptop has a mini pcmcia AZUREWAVE 802.11b/g wireless card in it which comes up in device manager as Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter, I assume because this is the wireless chip the Azureware card uses. I downloaded the latest drivers i could find and it works perfectly when its on. The problem is when i switch my laptop off and then on again the wireless card is still enabled in windows but it says no wireless networks in range, so i assume that the radio is off and i have to press the wireless hotkey on my laptop to turn it back on again. I have looked at all the settings in bios, network settings, device manager etc but cant get it to stay on after a reboot. I have also tried installing the Realtek wireless manager software to see if that can turn on the radio at boot but theres no option there. |

Is the behavior ever since? If you want and if it is possible try another wireless card and see if it behaves the same. I am not saying your card is defective... I just suspect that the card is behaving as designed.
