Trouble starting laptop.

I'm having trouble getting my laptop to start. The problem is when I turn my laptop on, everything is normal. Then when it reaches the Log in screen, the monior shuts off. Now this happened before with my other computer, but all I had to do was type in the pass word and wait, then the Desktop would show and everything worked fine. That doesn't work with this problem, the monitor just stays off so I have no clue what's going on. Oh, and the monitor works fine in safe mode.

tap f8 when booting and from the options menu try
last known good configuration
if no good see if there is any yellow alongside of anything in the device manager,from safe mode
